Dove Forest Posts Game Victory In Sprint Feature

     The promising 3-year-old filly Dove Forest improved her record to 2-for-3 Sunday when she scored a game victory in the $33,604 allowance feature at Golden Gate Fields.

     Dove Forest, sent straight to the lead by jockey Frank Alvarado, turned back challenges from the quarter pole to the wire to win the six-furlong sprint for fillies and mares by a head over Red Hot Charlotte.  

     Dearly Concerned, the 3-to-5 favorite ridden by Russell Baze, finished third.

Our Nautique, Krigger Score Wire-To-Wire Upset In SF Mile

     Our Nautique, dismissed at 19-to-1 in the wagering, scored a wire-to-wire victory in the Grade 3 $100,000 San Francisco Mile at Golden Gate Fields Saturday.

     Trained by Jerry Hollendorfer and ridden by Kevin Krigger, Our Nautique surged away from his foes in the final yards to win Northern California’s top turf race by 1 1/4 lengths over Gallant Son in 1:35.70.  Sebastian Flyte, the even-money favorite ridden by Patrick Valenzuela, finished third.

Trainer Canani Seeking Sixth San Francisco Mile Victory

     No trainer has had more success in the San Francisco Mile than Julio Canani, the Southern California-based conditioner who owns five victories in Northern California’s top turf race.

     Canani will take aim at another SF Mile triumph Saturday at Golden Gate Fields when he starts the 6-year-old gelding Blue Chagall in the Grade 3 $100,000 race for older horses.  Post time for the SF Mile, the seventh race on a nine-race card, is 3:45 p.m.  First post is 12:45 p.m.

Baze Stays Hot At Golden Gate Fields

     A three-day break in racing did little to cool off jockey Russell Baze, who won three races Thursday at Golden Gate Fields.

     Baze, who rode five winners on Easter Sunday, kicked off the new racing week with a victory aboard Primary Notice ($3.00) in the first race Thursday.  

Classy Field Of Nine Entered In Grade 3 $100,000 SF Mile

     Nine horses, including five stakes-winners, are set to start in the $100,000 San Francisco Mile at Golden Gate Fields Saturday.

     Northern California’s top turf race, the Grade 3 San Francisco Mile will be the featured seventh race on a nine-race program that begins at 12:45 p.m.  Post time for the SF Mile is 3:45 p.m.

Baze Celebrates Easter Sunday By Riding Five Winners At GGF

     Jockey Russell Baze celebrated Easter Sunday by riding five winners at Golden Gate Fields.

     The Easter program got off to a rough start for Baze, who finished third aboard 1-to-5 favorite Sammy Choi in the first race.  Baze quickly rebounded, however, sweeping races two through five.

     Baze won the second race with Three for Marino ($3.00), the third with Hope I Do ($10.40), the fourth with Diamond Touch ($3.00), and the fifth with Baron’s Gold ($2.60).

U R All That I Am Upsets Antares World In Work The Crowd Stakes

     U R All That I Am, receiving a fine ride from jockey Kevin Krigger, came from just off pace to upset 3-to-5 favorite Antares World in the $50,300 Work The Crowd Stakes at Golden Gate Fields Saturday.

     U R All That I Am raced in third while Antares World set the pace with Ms. G. I. Jane racing outside of her.  Antares World, ridden by Frank Alvarado, and Ms. G. I. Jane, with Aaron Gryder aboard, began battling for the lead in earnest on the far turn and were  eyeball to eyeball turning into the stretch.

Antares World Slight Favorite In Work The Crowd Stakes

     Antares World has been made a slight favorite over U R All That I Am in the $50,000 Work the Crowd Stakes at Golden Gate Fields Saturday.

     Golden Gate Fields price maker Richard Somers tabbed Antares World as the 9-to-5 morning line favorite in the Work the Crowd, a one-mile turf contest for fillies and mares bred in California.  U R All That I Am is the 2-to-1 second choice in the field of six.

Gryder-Martin Combo Click Again At Golden Gate Fields

     The jockey-trainer combination of Aaron Gryder and John F. Martin clicked again Thursday at Golden Gate Fields when the 5-year-old gelding Gavel dropped a
3 1/4-length victory on his four rivals in the fifth race.
