Our Nautique Favored In Friday’s Grade 3 $100,000 All American Stakes

     The very sharp New Zealand-bred Our Nautique has been made a 5-to-2 morning line favorite in Friday’s $100,000 All American Stakes at Golden Gate Fields.

     The All American, a Grade 3 test for 3-year-olds and up, will be run at 1 1/8-miles at Golden Gate Fields’ Tapeta racing surface.  The feature is the eighth race on nine-race card that begins at 12:45 p.m.

Free 2011 Wall Calendars on Sunday, Dec. 26, Opening Day of 2010-2011 Winter/Spring Meet

    Golden Gate Fields will open its 2010-2011 winter/spring meeting on Sunday, Dec. 26, and fans attending the opener will receive a free 2011 GGF wall calendar.  The calendars feature exciting photographs of horse racing action as well as some historical photos and notes about Golden Gate Fields.  

Early Post at GGF Thanksgiving Day, All American Stakes Featured Friday

     Golden Gate Fields will serve up horse racing throughout the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, offering cards Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

     Golden Gate Fields has scheduled a special early post time of 11:15 a.m. for Thursday’s eight-race program, a starting time that will allow fans to enjoy a day of racing and still get home in time for Thanksgiving dinner.  Post time for the eighth race is 2:45 p.m.

Baze Finishes Racing Week With Another Multiple-Victory Day

     Jockey Russell Baze completed a very successful racing week at Golden Gate Fields by riding three winners Sunday.

     Baze, who won four races Wednesday and three races on Thursday, scored Sunday with Katieinthefastlane ($5.80) in the first race, Megaspiel ($3.40) in the fourth and Cat Calloway ($4.00) in the ninth.

Cathy’s Crunches Tops The Boys In Golden Nugget Stakes at GGF

     Cathy’s Crunches, who crushed her fellow 2-year-old fillies in the Golden Gate Debutante Stakes on Nov. 6, proved she can also beat male rivals Saturday when she posted a smart victory in the $51,200 Golden Nugget Stakes at Golden Gate Fields.

Live Racing Canceled Wednesday, November 24

 Due to an insufficient number of entries, the live racing card scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 24, has been canceled.  However, Golden Gate Fields will be open Wednesday for simulcast wagering.  Club House gates open at 10 a.m. and the following tracks will be featured via simulcast: Churchill Downs (races 3-10), Aqueduct (races 4-9), Laurel (races 4-9), Hawthorne (races 1-9), Portland Meadows (races 1-9), Penn National (races 1-3), and Woodbine (race 1-2).

Jockey Martinez Headed Home, Thanks Everyone For Their Support

     Jockey Michael Martinez was discharged from the Santa Clara Valley Rehabilitation Center in San Jose this morning, 68 days after being critically injured in a spill at Golden Gate Fields.  

     Martinez, paralyzed from the waist down as a result of his fall on Sept. 12, was thrilled to be heading home.

Baze Follows Up Four-Win Wednesday With a Three-Victory Thursday at GGF

     Leading jockey Russell Baze, who opened the racing week by riding four winners Wednesday at Golden Gate Fields, came right back with three more victories Thursday at the East Bay racetrack.

     Baze’s four-win Wednesday included a sweep of the first three races.  Baze duplicated the feat of riding back-to-back-to-back winners Thursday when he won the fifth race with Western Roses ($9.00), the sixth with Victoriously ($5.80) and the seventh with Mr. Candy Bar ($5.60).

Hollendorfer, Baze Have Monster Days

     Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer and jockey Russell Baze, the two leading men in Bay Area horse racing, both had themselves quite a Wednesday afternoon.

     Hollendorfer went 4-for-5 at Golden Gate Fields and 3-for-3 at Portland Meadows, where he captured the Dennis Dodge Memorial Stakes with El Gaucho.  Hollendorfer’s other wins at Portland came with Decatur Island ($3.60) in the first race and Karakot ($3.00) in the fifth race.
