Trainer Monroe Wins Back-To-Back Races

     Trainer Sherrie Monroe, winless with her first 11 starters at the 2011 fall meeting, won back-to-back races Sunday at Golden Gate Fields.

     Monroe and jockey Chris Russell teamed up to win the fifth race with 34-to-1 shot Sarah’s Melody, who rallied from eighth in a field of nine to score by a half-length over Flying Home.   Owned in part by Monroe, Sarah’s Melody was the longest shot on the tote board and paid $71.60 to win

Shudacudawudya Romps In Sprint Feature At GGF

      Shudacudawudya, who finished second as the 4-to-5 favorite in the Oakland Stakes on Oct. 22, atoned for the loss Saturday at Golden Gate Fields with a dominating victory in the $49,692 allowance feature.

     Shudacudawudya came from just off the pace to win the six-furlong sprint by four lengths in a very good time of 1:08.75.   Hexbreaker took second by a length over Tribesman, who set the pace through hot fractions of 21.78 seconds and 44.26.

Halo Dolly Gets Back In The Winner’s Circle

     Halo Dolly, who had impressive winning streak snapped in the Grade 2 Cotillion Stakes at Parx Racing in Pennsylvania on Oct. 1, got back into the winner’s circle Sunday at Golden Gate Fields.

     Halo Dolly had won five straight races – including two stakes – before traveling to Parx (formerly Philadelphia Park) and finishing last in the $750,000 Cotillion, a  1 1/16-mile test for 3-year-old fillies.
