Halo Dolly Is 7-To-5 Choice In Pacific Heights Stakes

    Halo Dolly has been victorious in seven of her 11 races this year and the 3-year-old filly is favored to pick up another win Saturday in the $75,000 Pacific Heights Stakes at Golden Gate Fields.

    Halo Dolly is the 7-to-5 morning line favorite in the Pacific Heights, a 1 1/8-mile turf race for fillies and mares bred in California.  Antares World, a multiple stakes-winner, is the second choice in the field of six at 2-to-1.

Ain’t No Other Favored In Sprint Feature At GGF

     Ain’t No Other, the third-place finisher in the Grade 3 Morvich Handicap at Santa Anita, is a 6-to-5 morning line favorite in Friday’s sprint feature at Golden Gate Fields.

     The six-furlong allowance event is the third race on an eight-race program that begins at 12:45 p.m.  Post time for the third race is 1:48 p.m.

Final Week Of Fall Meeting Begins Thursday at GGF

     The final week of racing at Golden Gate Fields’ fall meeting will feature eight-race programs on Thursday and Friday and nine-race cards on Saturday and Sunday.  Post time is 12:45 p.m. each day.

     The main event during closing week is the $75,000 Pacific Heights Stakes, which will be run Saturday.  The Pacific Heights is a 1 1/8-mile turf race for fillies and mares bred in California. 

Jockey Cedillo Records Another Sunday Hat Trick At GGF

     Jockey Abel Cedillo won three races at Golden Gate Fields Sunday, the second straight Sunday he has posted a riding triple.

     Cedillo recorded a “natural” hat trick Sunday as he won the first three races on the program.  Cedillo took the opener with Peppered Catnip ($3.00), the second race with Sizzling Gold ($5.00), and the third with Paprika Red ($7.40).

     Cedillo has ridden 22 winners at the fall meeting and ranks fifth in the jockey standings.

Russian Greek Comes From Behind To Win Gold Rush Stakes At GGF


     Russian Greek overcame a stumbling start to capture the $75,260 Gold Rush Stakes at Golden Gate Fields Saturday.

     Russian Greek rallied from last to win the one-mile feature for 2-year-olds by a neck over Marshal Marini, who appeared to be home free after opening up a 2 1/2-length lead in midstretch.  Blacky the Bull, the pacesetter, finished third.

Lucky Culprit Favored In Gold Rush Stakes At GGF

     The impressive maiden winner Lucky Culprit has been made the 2-to-1 morning line favorite in the $75,000 Gold Rush Stakes at Golden Gate Fields Saturday.

     The Gold Rush, a one-mile contest for 2-year-olds, attracted a field of six.  Lucky Culprit will be ridden by Russell Baze and break from post position five.

Buck’s Bro Defeats Baton Roo By A Nose At Golden Gate Fields

     In what turned out to be a veritable match race, Buck’s Bro defeated Baton Roo by a nose in the $26,880 feature race at Golden Gate Fields Thursday.

     Buck’s Bro, ridden by Francisco Duran, and Baton Roo, with Aaron Gryder aboard, raced one-two throughout the one-mile contest for 3-year-olds and up.  The 4-year-old gelding Baton Roo drew alongside Buck’s Bro in midstretch but couldn’t go by the         6-year-old gelding.
