Halo Dolly, G. G. Ryder Favored In Weekend Stakes

Golden Gate Fields will present a stakes double-header this weekend and Hall of Fame trainer Jerry Hollendorfer has the morning-line favorite in both races.
     Halo Dolly is the 8-5 choice in Saturday’s $50,000-added Golden Poppy, a                 1 1/16-mile turf contest for fillies and mares.  G. G. Ryder is the 9-5 favorite in Sunday’s $75,000 Alcatraz, a one-mile turf test for 3-year-olds.

G. G. Ryder To Make Stakes Debut In Alcatraz

G. G. Ryder, a colt who has been victorious in four of his past five races, will make his stakes debut Sunday at Golden Gate Fields in the $75,000 Alcatraz Stakes. 
     The Alcatraz is for 3-year-olds and will be decided at one mile on the Lakeside Turf Course.  Five runners were entered in the feature and all but Flagman are coming off victories.

Apprentice Salcedo Gets First Victory

     Apprentice Cesar Salcedo, on his 87th mount, recorded his first career victory Sunday at Golden Gate Fields when he guided 1-2 favorite My Game to a front-running score in the second race.

     A 22-year-old native of Anaheim, Salcedo began riding last December at Turf Paradise in Phoenix.  Salcedo went 0-for-74 at the Arizona track, however, he did have 10 second-place finishes.

     When California Chrome crossed the wire as a dominating victor of the 140th Kentucky Derby, cheers rattled the rafters at Golden Gate Fields, where both the Derby winning trainer and jockey once plied their trades with great success.

     Golden Gate Fields will simulcast the entire 13-race Kentucky Derby Day program from Churchill Downs in Louisville Saturday.
     Golden Gate Fields is opening all admission gates at 7:15 a.m., 15 minutes prior to first post at Churchill.  Post time for the 140th Kentucky Derby (race 11) is 3:24 p.m.

Kentucky Derby Betting Begins Friday At Golden Gate Fields

Advance wagering on Saturday’s Kentucky Derby will be offered all day Friday at Golden Gate Fields.
     Grandstand and club house gates open at 9 a.m. Friday and the track will simulcast races 4-12 on the Kentucky Oaks program from Churchill Downs in Louisville.  Post time for the first simulcast is 9:05 a.m. and post time for the Kentucky Oaks (race 11) is 2:49 p.m.
