Jockey Alvarado Notches 3,000th Victory

Jockey Frank Alvarado, a 45-year-old native of Panama City, Panama, earned his 3,000th victory in North America Friday when he guided Curly Girly to a 1 1/2-length score in the eighth race at Golden Gate Fields. 

Golden Gate Fields Offers Belmont Stakes Betting Friday

     Golden Gate Fields will take bets Friday on Saturday’s Belmont Stakes, a 1 1/2-mile race in which California Chrome will attempt to become thoroughbred racing’s 12th Triple Crown champion.  
     Advance wagering on the Belmont will be offered during the track’s morning simulcast program as well as during its live racing card, which begins at 1:45 p.m.  Gates open at 10 a.m.

Early Gate Opening, Post Time At Golden Gate Fields Saturday

Golden Gate Fields will open all gates at 9 a.m. Saturday when it hosts the biggest Belmont Stakes party in the Bay Area and presents a 10-race program that will begin at the special early post time of 12:15 p.m.
     As part of the Belmont Stakes celebration, Golden Gate Fields will offer fans 16-ounce Coors or Miller beers, hot dogs, and bottled water for just a buck each.  The track will also host a Belmont Stakes/California Chrome Wine Festival, which will showcase 17 wineries.

Tiz Kissable Triumphs In Turf Feature

     Tiz Kissable rallied inside of her rivals down the stretch and earned a hard-fought victory in the $31,185 turf feature at Golden Gate Fields Sunday. 
      Receiving a strong ride from veteran jockey Dennis Carr, Tiz Kissable outran pacesetter Tacit Approval as well as French Tart and Zanab through the final furlong to win the one-mile allowance race for 3-year-old fillies by three-quarters of a length.

Reno Rebel Makes Impressive Turf Debut

Reno Rebel made an impressive turf debut Saturday when he charged from off the pace to score a 2 1/4-length victory in the $30,960 allowance feature at Golden Gate Fields.
     Reno Rebel, ridden by Dennis Carr, zoomed to the lead at the top of the stretch and maintained a clear advantage to the wire in winning the 1 1/16-mile test for 3-year-olds in 1:44.82.  Terrys Tom Cat took second by a head over Crushed It. 

Alcatraz Opponents Meet Again Saturday

     Pazmeifucan and Flagman, the second- and third-place finishers in the Alcatraz Stakes on May 11, will meet again Saturday at Golden Gate Fields in the $30,000 turf feature.
     Nine 3-year-olds are entered in the 1 1/16-mile allowance race and Pazmeifucan and Flagman are 4-1 and 8-1, respectively, on the morning line.  The lukewarm 7-2 morning-line favorite is Reno Rebel, who broke his maiden at Santa Anita in April for trainer Art Sherman, the conditioner of Triple Crown hopeful California Chrome.

Jockey Alvarado Approaching Milestone Win

     Veteran jockey Frank Alvarado heads into Golden Gate Fields’ abbreviated Friday-through-Sunday racing week approaching a career milestone.  Post time Friday is 1:45 p.m.; first post Saturday and Sunday is 12:45 p.m.
     Alvarado, a 45-year-old native of Panama City, Panama, has ridden 2,995 winners in North America.  He is scheduled to ride 15 horses during the next three days – four Friday, four Saturday and seven Sunday – as he guns for win No. 3,000. 

Shared Belief Returns To Races Triumphantly

Shared Belief, the champion 2-year-old of 2013, made a triumphant return to races Monday at Golden Gate Fields when he whipped four older rivals in the $37,310 Onebadshark allowance sprint in his long-awaited 3-year-old debut.
     Ridden by Russell Baze, Shared Belief led from start to finish in the six-furlong race and scored by 4 1/4 lengths in a solid time of 1:09.78.  Ourwestcoastghost took second by a head over Moonshine Bay. 

Shared Belief 4-5 Favorite In Comeback Start; Summer Hit 2-1 Choice In $100,000 All American

      Shared Belief is a 4-5 favorite on the morning line to win his 3-year-old debut Monday and Summer Hit is the 2-1 choice in the Grade 3 $100,000 All American Stakes at Golden Gate Fields.
      Post time for the Memorial Day program is 12:45 p.m. and fans attending the holiday card will have the chance to get a free Golden Gate Fields souvenir through the track’s grab bag promotion. 

Marshal Marini Wires Rivals At Golden Gate Fields

   Marshall Marini, in his second try on turf, scored a front-running victory in the $37,515 allowance feature at Golden Gate Fields Saturday.
     Rated nicely on the lead by jockey Abel Cedillo, Marshall Marini stole a half-mile in :49.53 and glided through six furlongs in 1:13.40.  With plenty of energy left for the stretch drive, Marshall Marini held off 3-5 favorite Salah Champ to tally by 1 3/4 lengths.
