Gonzalez Rides Favorites To Hat Trick

     Jockey Ricardo Gonzalez rode three favorites Sunday at Golden Gate Fields and he didn’t let the “chalk players” down. 
     Gonzalez recorded a riding hat trick when he won the first race with even-money choice Saleofthecentury ($4.20), the third race with 3-5 Daugava ($3.20), and the fifth race with 6-5 Prodicious Facts ($4.40). 

Baze Sweeps Early Pick 4 At Golden Gate Fields

     All you had to do to hit the early Pick 4 at Golden Gate Fields Saturday was use the horse that had Hall of Famer Russell Baze on its back.
     The Pick 4 is a 50-cent bet that challenges handicappers to correctly select the winners of four consecutive races.  Golden Gate Fields offers the bet twice on each card, conducting an early Pick 4 on races two through five and a late Pick 4 on the final four races on the program.

Tim’s Go Girl Posts Fourth Straight Victory

     Tim’s Go Girl recorded her fourth straight victory since being claimed by trainer W. E. Morey when she came from just off the pace to capture the $31,838 allowance feature at Golden Gate Fields Friday.  
     Receiving a heady ride from jockey Juan Hernandez, who rode four winners on the afternoon, Tim’s Go Girl charged between horses to take the lead in midstretch and went on to score by 
1 3/4 lengths in the six-furlong sprint for fillies and mares. 

Golden Gate Fields Runners Will Invade Santa Anita Saturday

Six horses based at Golden Gate Fields will compete at Santa Anita Saturday in hopes of earning a big payday at the annual Sunshine Millions/California Cup Day program. 
     Golden Gate Fields will simulcast the entire 10-race card from Santa Anita as well as present a nine-race card of its own.  Post time at Santa Anita is noon and first post at Golden Gate Fields is 12:45 p.m.

Ryder’s Starlight Turns The Tables On Can Can Babe

Ryder’s Starlight turned the tables on Can Can Babe in the $30,240 sprint feature at Golden Gate Fields Monday.
     Ryder’s Starlight lost a race-long duel with Can Can Babe in a six-furlong dash on Dec. 28, coming up a length short to her rival.  On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Ryder’s Starlight and Can Can Babe again staged their personal match race and this time Ryder’s Starlight prevailed by a head.

Mah Gellin Wins Off The Bench For Offield

     Mah Gellin, making his first start in 11 months, came from off the pace to post an impressive victory in the $37,631 sprint feature at Golden Gate Fields Sunday.
     Ridden by Abel Cedillo, Mah Gellin surged to the lead in midstretch and then held off Siberian Laughter to win the six-furlong allowance race for 4-year-olds and up by a length in 1:10.15.  

Cross The Line Gives Trainer Hollendorfer Fourth Straight Win In California Derby

Cross the Line gave Hall of Fame trainer Jerry Hollendorfer his fourth straight victory in the $100,000 California Derby when he held off Soul Driver and Stand and Salute down the stretch to win the 100th running of the stakes for 3-year-olds Saturday at Golden Gate Fields.

Baze And Hollendorfer Seek More Glory In California Derby

     Jockey Russell Baze and trainer Jerry Hollendorfer will try to win the California Derby together for the third straight year and fifth time overall when they team up with Stand and Salute in the 100th running of the stakes for 3-year-olds Saturday at Golden Gate Fields.

Soul Driver Is 2-1 Morning-Line Favorite In 100th California Derby

     Southern California invader Soul Driver has been made the 2-1 morning-line favorite in the $100,000 California Derby, which will have its 100th running Saturday at Golden Gate Fields.
     The California Derby is a 1 1/16-mile race for 3-year-olds that serves as a prep for Northern California’s official Kentucky Derby prep, the Grade 3 $200,000 El Camino Real Derby, which will be run Saturday, Feb. 14.
