Winless in 2010, Bleach Blonde Opens 2011 With Upset Victory

     Bleach Blonde, 0-for-10 in 2010, made her first start in 2011 a winning one when she scored a 9-to-1 upset in the $41,836 allowance feature at Golden Gate Fields Sunday.

     Bleach Blonde took the lead from long shot Demanding Diva in midstretch and then held off a late bid from Eyes On the Prize to win the one-mile race for fillies and mares by a half-length.  Cover Story, the 3-to-2 favorite, finished third.

     Bleach Blonde, trained by Lloyd Mason, was timed in 1:39.26 and paid $21.40.  Owned and bred by Brett Mason, Bleach Blonde earned $26,520 for the victory – her third win in 17 career starts.

     Bleach Blonde was ridden by Inoel Beato, who won a pair of races Sunday.  Beato won the fifth race with Sumalee ($9.60) in addition to the eighth with Bleach Blonde.

     Jockeys Julien Couton and Francisco Duran also rode two winners.  Couton took the first race with Teenage Dancer ($18.60) and the fourth with Lucky Spell ($16.20).  Duran tallied in back-to-back races, winning the second with Mizzen You ($10.00) and the third with Northern Causeway ($9.60).

     Live racing will resume at Golden Gate Fields Thursday.  Post time is 12:45 p.m.

     FREE ADMISSION TO SIMULCAST PROGRAM WEDNESDAY  --  Golden Gate Fields is offering free admission to Wednesday’s simulcast program, which will feature action from Tampa Bay Downs (races 4 through 10, 10:50 a.m. post time), Gulfstream Park (3-9, 10:52 a.m.), Aqueduct (4-9, 10:53 a.m.), Laurel Park (4-9, 11:00 a.m.), Philadelphia Park (5-10, 11:04 a.m.), and Portland Meadows (1-9, 12:20 p.m.).

    Simulcast wagering will be offered in the Club House and gates open at 10:00 a.m.
