Victory In Feature Race Part Of Three-Win Afternoon For Romero

Jockey Hector Romero won three races Saturday at Golden Gate Fields, including the $40,420 feature with the promising colt  Jim’s No Preacher.

Jim’s No Preacher, a California-bred son of Ministers Wild Cat, scored a 1 1/4-length victory over 9-to-5 favorite Meshuguna in a six-furlong allowance sprint for 3-year-olds.
Sworn to Secrecy finished third.

The victory was the second in as many starts for Jim’s No Preacher, who broke his maiden Dec. 12 at Golden Gate Fields in a six-furlong maiden allowance race.  Trained by Steve Sherman, Jim’s No Preacher is owned in partnership by Jim Robinson and Robert Bone.

Jim’s No Preacher won Saturday’s main event in 1:10.59 and paid $6.00 as the 2-to-1 third choice in a field of six.

In addition to the featured fourth race, Romero won the first race with Maderia ($18.00) and the fifth race with Ministerfrommiami ($7.20).  Sherman trains Ministerfrommiami, a 4-year-old gelding by Ministers Wild Cat.

Golden Gate Fields will present a “Dollar Day” racing program Sunday.  Post time is 12:45 p.m. and the track is offering $1 general parking, $1 general admission, $1 hot dogs, $1 beers and $1 sodas.
