Victory In Feature Race Caps Riding Hat Trick For Carr

A come-from-behind victory aboard Heat Du Jour in the $38,445 turf feature completed a riding hat track for jockey Dennis Carr at Golden Gate Fields Sunday.

Carr rallied Heat Du Jour from ninth in a field of 10 in the 1 1/16-mile allowance race for fillies and mares.  Heat Du Jour charged down the middle of the Lakeside Turf Course to defeat 23-1 longshot Loveintheshadows by a neck.  Loveintheshadows had taken the lead from 25-1 Top Tizzy in deep stretch.

Heat Du Jour, a 4-year-old filly by Unusual Heat, clocked a time of 1:45.04 in her first try on the Golden Gate Fields lawn, which was listed as yielding.  The 3-1 second choice in the wagering, Heat Du Jour paid $8.80.

Heat Du Jour is trained by Steve Sherman and owned by the partnership of Bone, JR Racing, Mayo, Exelby and Brewer Racing Stable.

In addition to the featured eighth race, Carr won the second race with Little Jack ($11.20) and the fifth with Pazmeifucan ($5.80).

Pazmeifucan’s win in a one-mile maiden allowance race capped a great weekend for breeder-owner-trainer Alex Paszkeicz, who on Saturday won the Grade 3 $100,000 San Francisco Mile with his homebred Pepper Crown.  Pazmeifucan is Pepper Crown’s younger full brother.

Racing will resume at Golden Gate Fields Thursday.  Post time is 12:45 p.m.
