Trainers Trujillo, Patterson Each Saddle Pair Of Winners

Trainers Victor Trujillo and Dennis Patterson both won a pair of races Thursday at Golden Gate Fields.

Trujillo won the “old-school” Daily Double when he sent out the winners of the first and second races.  Although many tracks now offer their bettors “rolling Daily Doubles,” there was only one Daily Double in the early days of pari-mutuel wagering and it was conducted on the first two races.

Trujillo captured the first race with 6-5 favorite Wild Date ($4.60) and the second with Da Jersey Express ($7.40).  The Trujillo Daily Double paid $12.80.

Patterson won the fourth race with the promising 2-year-old filly Ciao Bella Luna ($5.20) and the seventh race with the veteran 7-year-old mare For Sure for Sure ($3.40).

Ciao Bella Luna, a Kentucky-bred daughter of Tribal Rule, improved to 2-for-2 with an impressive two-length score in a six-furlong allowance dash.  Ridden by Eric Camacho, Ciao Bella Luna stopped the timer in 1:10.62.

Ciao Bella Luna is owned in partnership by Car-Den Racing Stable and Theresa Patterson, wife of the winning trainer.  Ciao Bella Luna earned $23,400 Thursday and has made $43,680 in her two races.

Racing continues at Golden Gate Fields Friday.  Post time is 12:45 p.m.
