Trainer Hollendorfer Two Wins Shy Of Milestone Victory No. 6,000

Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer, who on Aug. 12 became a member of thoroughbred racing’s Hall of Fame, is only two wins away from joining an even more exclusive
group – the 6,000 victory club.

Only three trainers in thoroughbred racing history have won 6,000 races – the late Dale Baird, who retired in 2007 with 9,445 victories, and active trainers Jack Van Berg and King T. Leatherbury, who have won 6,406 and 6,324 races, respectively.

Hollendorfer is scheduled to start five horses at Golden Gate Fields Friday, including Hot Engagement (6-to-1 on the morning line) in the first race.  Post time for the first race is 12:45 p.m.

Hollendorfer’s other entrants at Golden Gate Fields Friday are: Western Roses
(5-to-2) in the second race, Real Heart (4-to-1) and Court Mischief (2-to-1) in the third race, and Movie Star R. N. (7-to-5) in the seventh race.  Court Mischief and Movie Star R. N. are both morning-line favorites.

Hollendorfer, who maintains stables in both Northern and Southern California, has one horse entered at Del Mar Friday – Lilly Fa Pootz (4-to-1) in the featured sixth race, an $85,000 stakes race for fillies and mares.  Post time for the sixth race at Del Mar is 6:30 p.m.
