Trainer Hansen Goes 2-For-2

Trainer Roger Hansen, who had just one winner from 23 starters through 51 days of racing at the winter/spring meeting, went 2-for-2 Saturday at Golden Gate Fields.

Hansen won the six-furlong third race with Love Rules All ($7.00), who just held off 30-1 long shot Hypnatique by a half-length.  Love Rules All was ridden by William Antongeorgi, III.

Hansen captured the six-furlong fifth race with 7-1 outsider Sizzling Lassie ($16.60), who got up to win by a head over Go Go Gracie.  Francisco Duran rode Sizzling Lassie.

Hansen not only trains Love Rules All and Sizzling Lassie, he owns them.  Both horses were bred by the late Kjell H. Qvale of San Francisco.  Hansen was Qvale’s private trainer for many years.

Jockey Juan Hernandez rode three winners.  Hernandez took the second race with Trice Up ($5.20), the seventh with Rappa ($10.20), and the eighth with Noble Kent ($10.80).

Racing continues at Golden Gate Fields Sunday.  Post time is 12:45 p.m. and the track is offering $1 general parking, $1 general admission, $1 programs, $1 beers, $1 hot dogs and $1 sodas.

Tough Day At Turfway –  Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer and jockey Russell Baze had a tough afternoon at Turfway Park in Florence, Ky., Saturday with Swiss Lake Yodeler and     Tamarando.

Swiss Lake Yodeler, who won a pair of stakes in Southern California last year, finished ninth in a field of 11 in the $125,000 Bourbonette Oaks (won by Aurelia’s Belle-$9.40).  Tamarando, who captured the El Camino Real Derby at Golden Gate Fields on Feb. 15, finished eighth in a field of 12 as the 2-1 favorite in the $550,000 Spiral Stakes (won by We Miss Artie-$9.20).
