A Toast To You Sight Favorite In Wide Open Albany Stakes

     How wide open is the $50,000-added Albany Stakes at Golden Gate Fields Saturday?  The favorite is 3-1 on the morning line and five of the eight entrants are listed at odds of under 5-1. 
    
     Golden Gate Fields price maker Steve Martinelli tabbed A Toast To You as his morning-line favorite and rated the following runners right behind him: Starspangled Heat at 7-2, Moonshine Bay at 4-1, and Incline Village and Ain’t No Other at 9-2.
 
     Completing the field are Zehner’s Zenna at 8-1, Pete’s Slew at 15-1, and Teton County at 
20-1.
 
     The Albany will be decided at five furlongs on turf.  A Toast To You, a 5-year-old gelding who has earned $449,062 in 26 career starts, has a win and a second in three tries racing five furlongs on grass. 
 
     A Toast To You will be making his first start for trainer Ed Moger, Jr. Saturday.  Moger, on behalf of his brother, Steve, claimed the California-bred son of Tribal Rule for $50,000 on May 8 at Santa Anita.  A Toast To You scored a game victory in a 6 1/2-furlong race down Santa Anita’s famed hillside turf course that afternoon.
 
     A Toast To You has collected eight wins, three seconds and four thirds in his 26 races and will be seeking his second career stakes victory Saturday.  A Toast To You, who is out of the dam Whitewinesipper, won the $101,250 California Flag Handicap at Santa Anita last fall.
 
     Starspangled Heat has $385,882 in career earnings, Moonshine Bay has finished first or second in 26 of his 41 races, Incline Village has finished in the money in five of his last six starts, and Ain’t No Other has a win, a second and a third in three tries at five furlongs on turf.
 
     The field for the Albany, in post position order, is as follows: Pete’s Slew, Frank Alvarado rides, 15-1; Incline Village, William Antongeorgi III, 9-2; Teton County, Francisco Duran, 20-1; Zehner’s Zenna, Alejandro Gomez, 8-1; A Toast To You, Dennis Carr, 3-1; Moonshine Bay, Russell Baze, 4-1; Ain’t No Other, Juan Hernandez, 9-2; and Starspangled Heat, Abel Cedillo, 
7-2.  All of the starters carry 123 pounds with the exception of 3-year-old Pete’s Slew, who will tote 118.
       
     The Albany is the eighth event on a 10-race card that begins at 12:45 p.m.  Post time for the Albany is 4:27 p.m. 
 
     Wiener Dog Races – Golden Gate Fields will present the Wiener Nationals Saturday.  Two Dachshund races will be presented before the first thoroughbred race – at 11:45 a.m. and 12:17 p.m. – and the other seven qualifying heats between the thoroughbred events.  The winning dog from each of the nine 30-yard heats will meet in the championship final scheduled for 4:27 p.m.
