Talented 3-Year-Old Fillies Match Strides Friday

A  talented group of 3-year-old fillies will match strides Friday at Golden Gate Fields in the featured third race, a six-furlong allowance dash that has a purse of $30,000.

Five fillies are entered in the race and every runner – with the exception of Toomuchisnotenough, who is undefeated in three starts – has competed in stakes events.

The lineup includes Miss Success, who was only beaten a neck by the undefeated colt Exit Stage Left when she ran third in the Golden Nugget Stakes on Nov. 9.  In her next start on Nov. 22, Miss Success finished second to an undefeated filly, Look Quickly, in the Golden Gate Debutante.

Miss Success’ 2-year-old campaign ended on downer, however, when she finished last in an allowance race on Dec. 29.  Trained by Greg James, Miss Success recorded a bullet work (five furlongs in :59 1/5 handily) on Jan. 18 in preparation for her 3-year-old debut Friday.

The field also features: Meinertzhageni, who finished fourth in the $200,000 Soviet Problem Stakes at Betfair Hollywood Park on Dec. 21; Uzziel, who checked in fourth (and last) in the Grade 2 Santa Ynez Stakes at Santa Anita on Jan. 4; and Purims Faith, who ran third in the Juan Gonzalez Stakes at Pleasanton on July 6.

Toomuchisnotenough made a winning debut in a $12,500 maiden-claiming race at Stockton Sept. 27 and then scored back-to-back victories in 5 1/2-furlong starter allowance races at Golden Gate Fields on Nov. 21 and Jan. 9.

The field for Friday’s main event, in post position order, is as follows: Miss Success, Kevin Krigger rides, 3-1 on the morning line; Meinertzhageni, William Antongeorgi III, 7-2; Uzziel, Russell Baze, 2-1; Purims Faith, Ricardo Gonzalez, 8-1; and Toomuchisnotenough, Frank Alvarado, 5-2.

First post Friday is 12:45 p.m.  Post time for third race is 1:45 p.m.
