Summers Peace Wires Field In Turf Feature At GGF

     Summers Peace scored a wire-to-wire victory at odds of 8-to-1 in the $36,292 turf feature at Golden Gate Fields Saturday.

     Summers Peace rated nicely on the lead for jockey Kevin Krigger and took the one-mile allowance contest for fillies and mares by 3 1/4 lengths over Bleach Blonde.  Bella Swan finished third.

     Summers Peace, trained by Chuck Jenda, completed her tour of the Lakeside Turf Course in 1:37.18 and paid $19.20, $8.60 and $4.40.  Bleach Blonde returned $4.60 and $2.60 while Bella Swan paid $4.60.

     Summers Peace, a 5-year-old mare by Orientate, has two wins and a second in three starts on the Golden Gate Fields turf.  Overall, the Kentucky-bred has five wins, five seconds and four thirds in 22 starts.

     Summers Peace earned $19,800 Saturday and the check boosted her career earnings to $173,404.  Summers Peace is owned by Linden Trust.

     Racing continues at Golden Gate Fields Sunday when the track presents a special Dollar Day/NFL Sunday card.  Gates open at 10 a.m. and the track is offering $1 general parking, $1 general admission, $1 programs, $1 beers, $1 hot dogs, $1 sodas and the opportunity to watch all the football games via the NFL Sunday Ticket.

     Post time for the first race on the nine-race program is 12:45 p.m. and there will be a free concert by Pop Fiction.
