Streakin’ Mohican Blitzes Foes at GGF; Toys-4-Tots Toy Drive Sunday

Streakin’ Mohican took command leaving the gate and was never challenged en route to winning the $38,900 sprint feature at Golden Gate Fields Saturday.

Ridden by Mario Gutierrez and trained by Bob Hess, Streakin’ Mohican drew away from his eight rivals down the stretch and won the six-furlong allowance dash by five lengths in a very quick 1:08.82.  Reagan Republican took second by a length over Hexbreaker.

Streakin Mohican, who had made his three most recent starts in Southern California, appeared happy to be back at Golden Gate Fields, where he has five wins and a second in 10 starts.  Owned by Curtis Landry, Streakin’ Mohican earned $17,400 for Saturday’s victory.

Streakin’ Mohican, the 6-to-5 favorite, paid $4.60 to win.

Golden Gate Fields will conduct a Toys-4-Tots Toy Drive Sunday.  Fans will receive two free Club House tickets for each new unwrapped toy they donate.  The toys, as well as monetary donations, will be collected by the United States Marine Corps Reserve and distributed to children throughout the community.

Grandstanding and club house gates open at 10 a.m. and the track is offering $1 general parking, $1 general admission, $1 hot dogs, $1 beers and $1 sodas.  Post time is 12:45 p.m.
