Sienna Sky Wins Sprint Feature, Krigger Has Riding Hat Trick

Sienna Sky, responding to a strong ride from jockey Kevin Krigger, scored a game victory in the $35,332 sprint feature at Golden Gate Fields Sunday.

Sienna Sky battled on the lead throughout the six-furlong contest for fillies and mares and dug in tenaciously down the stretch to defeat Upstairs Maid by three-quarters of a length.  Trapper’s Bounty, the 2-to-1 favorite, finished third.

Sienna Sky, trained by Marty Jones, was timed in 1:10.43 and paid $12.00 as the fourth wagering choice in a field six.  A 4-year-old filly owned by Joe Stiglich and Lloyd Grant, Sienna Sky earned $19,200 for her third victory in seven career starts.

Sienna Sky was one of three winners ridden by Krigger, who scored his victories in consecutive races.  Krigger won the seventh race with Elegant ($7.80), the featured eighth with Sienna Sky and the ninth with Tops Frolic ($9.40).

Racing will resume at Golden Gate Fields Thursday.  Post time is 12:45 p.m.
