Sanger Silver Makes Victorious Return To The Races

Sanger Silver made a victorious return to the races Saturday at Golden Gate Fields when he defeated six rivals in the $40,820 sprint feature.

Making his first start in 10 months, Sanger Silver won the six-furlong allowance contest for older horses by three-quarters of a length over 2-to-1 favorite Gutshot Straight.  Quick Enough finished third.

Sanger Silver, ridden by Aaron Gryder, tracked 43-to-1 pacesetter Dollarwaitnonadime from the start and then took command from the longshot in midstretch.  Trained by Efrain Miranda, Sanger Silver dug in gamely through the final sixteenth to hold off Gutshot Straight and Quick Enough and earn his sixth victory in 15 starts.

Sanger Silver was timed in 1:09.41 and paid $13.20 to win.   Owned by Willard Russell, Sanger Silver earned $25,350, a payday that boosted his bankroll to $152,380.

Jockey Russell Baze, who won four races Friday, came back with a riding triple Saturday.  Baze won the third race with Hey I’m Sobaa ($4.00), the sixth with Artemida ($4.00), and the seventh with He’s So Stylish ($9.60).

Golden Gate Fields will present a nine-race program Sunday.  Post time is 12:45 p.m. and the track is offering fans $1 general parking, $1 general admission, $1 programs, $1 beers, $1 hot dogs and $1 sodas.
