Preakness Betting Begins Friday At Golden Gate Fields

     Fans attending Golden Gate Fields Friday can make advance wagers on the 138th Preakness Stakes, which will be run Saturday at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore.

     Golden Gate Fields will take Preakness bets during its live card Friday (post time is 12:45 p.m.) and also during its morning and nighttime simulcas4t programs, giving patrons all day to make advance wagers on the middle leg of the Triple Crown.

     Saturday, all gates at Golden Gate Fields open at 9 a.m. and the track will simulcast the majority of the Preakness Day card from Pimlico.  Post time for the Preakness Stakes, featuring Kentucky Derby winner Orb, is 3:18 p.m.

     The field for the Preakness Stakes, in post position order, is as follows: Orb, Joel Rosario rides, even money on the morning line; Goldencents, Kevin Krigger, 8-1; Titletown Five, Julien Leparoux, 30-1; Departing, Brian Hernandez, Jr., 6-1; Mylute, Rosie Napravnik, 5-1; Oxbow, Gary Stevens, 15-1; Will Take Charge, Mike Smith, 12-1; Governor Charlie, Martin Garcia, 12-1; and Itsmyluckyday, John Velazquez, 10-1.  All of the starters will carry 126 pounds.

     Golden Gate Fields will present a nine-race card Saturday and there is a special early post time of 11:45 a.m. for the local program.
