Oh Molly Brannigan Back In Action At Golden Gate Fields

Oh Molly Brannigan, runner-up in both the Golden Poppy and Campanile Stakes at Golden Gate Fields in the spring, will make her first start at the summer meeting Sunday when she faces older rivals in the $26,800 allowance feature.

Post time Sunday is 1:15 p.m. and Golden Gate Fields is offering $1 general parking, $1 general admission, $1 hot dogs, $1 beers and $1 sodas.  The free summer concert series continues with The Department Of Rock performing on the Trackside Stage.

Oh Molly Brannigan ran against fellow 3-year-olds during the spring but will face older rivals in the featured eighth race, a 1 1/16-mile turf contest for fillies and mares.  Oh Molly Brannigan has a win and two seconds in three starts on the Golden Gate Fields lawn and is listed as the 7-2 second choice on the morning line in a field of 11.

Oh Molly Brannigan, trained by Andy Mathis, rattled off three straight victories prior to her second-place finishes in the Golden Poppy and Campanile.  A California-bred daughter of Utopia, Oh Molly Brannigan is owned by her breeders, Willow Tree Farm.
Jockey Alejandro Gomez will ride Oh Molly Brannigan for the first time Sunday.

Nonios Fifth In Travers  --  Nonios, trained by Northern California’s Jerry Hollendorfer, finished fifth in the $1 million Travers Stakes at Saratoga Saturday. Golden Ticket, a 33-1 rank outsider, and 2-1 favorite Alpha dead-heated for the victory in the
1 1/4-mile race for 3-year-olds.  Golden Ticket paid $26.80 to win while Alpha returned $4.10.

“I’ve got no excuse,” said Hollendorfer of Nonios’ non-threatening effort in the Travers.
