My Gi Gi Is 8-to-5 Favorite In Corte Madera Stakes

Breeders’ Cup combatant My Gi Gi has been installed as an 8-to-5 favorite on the morning line in the $75,000 Corte Madera Stakes at Golden Gate Fields.

The Corte Madera is for 2-year-old fillies and the one-mile race is the feature event on a nine-race Saturday program that begins at 12:45 p.m.  Post time for the Corte Madera, the third race on the card, is 1:47 p.m.

My Gi Gi participated in the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Churchill Downs on Nov. 4 and lost all chance at the start when she broke in the air.
My Gi Gi checked in 12th in a field of 14 and was never a factor in the one-mile turf test.

My Gi Gi, based at Santa Anita in the barn of trainer Brian Koriner, finished fourth in the Grade 1 Oak Leaf Stakes in her race prior to the Breeders’ Cup.  My Gi Gi joined the Koriner stable after running second in the $100,000 Happy Ticket Stakes on the turf at Louisiana Downs.

Koriner has given veteran Bay Area jockey Frank Alvarado the riding assignment on My Gi Gi in the Corte Madera.  A Kentucky-bred daughter of E Dubai, My Gi Gi will race on a synthetic surface for the first time Saturday.

Lady of Fifty and Power of Nine, who finished a nose apart while running one-two in the Golden Gate Debutante Stakes on Nov. 5, are the second- and third-choices on the Corte Madera morning line at 3-to-1 and 7-to-2, respectively.

The field for the Corte Madera, in post position order with jockeys and morning-line odds, is as follows: Run the Blues Away, David Lopez, 15-to-1; My Gi Gi, Alvarado,
8-to-5; Lady of Fifty, Kevin Krigger, 3-to-1; Power of Nine, Abel Cedillo, 7-to-2; Hennessy River, Russell Baze, 9-to-2; and Sweet Nothings, Aaron Gryder, 8-to-1.
