Midnight Fiddle Improves To 2-For-4 For New Hall Of Famer Hollendorfer

     Midnight Fiddle, a well-bred colt trained by new Hall of Famer Jerry Hollendorfer, improved his record to 2-for-4 with a hard-fought victory in the $33,976 allowance feature at Golden Gate Fields Sunday.

     Midnight Fiddle took the lead from Howmuchisit in midstretch and then held off Mind the Ladies and Barrel Knot to win the six-furlong sprint by a length in 1:11.56.  Mind the Ladies edged Barrel Knot by a nose for second.

     Midnight Fiddle was the 4-to-5 favorite under jockey Russell Baze and paid $3.80.  A Kentucky-bred son of Empire Maker, Midnight Fiddle is owned in partnership by Hollendorfer, Mark DeDomenico, John Carver, and George Todaro.

     Hollendorfer, who was elected into racing’s Hall of Fame on Friday, also teamed with Baze to win the fourth race with I Am Not Who I Was ($8.00).

     In addition to Hollendorfer and Baze, apprentice Abel Cedillo, veteran jockey Frank Alvarado and veteran trainer Steve Specht also won a pair of races Sunday.
