Many Share In Pick Six Profits At Golden Gate Fields
A perfect Pick Six ticket, which had eluded handicappers for five consecutive racing programs at Golden Gate Fields, was not hard to find Friday at the East Bay racetrack.
With short-priced horses dominating the races, there were 113 tickets that correctly had all of the winners in the Pick Six sequence (races three through eight) and each returned $1,050.80. Some 1,257 tickets had five of the six winners and the consolation tickets were worth $23.60 each.
The winning horses in the Pick Six sequence were: Life Is a Rock (who paid $6.00 as the 2-1 second choice in the betting), Defying Logic ($4.80 as the 7-5 favorite), Black Denim ($4.60 as the 6-5 second choice), High Caliber ($3.40 as the 3-5 favorite), Unusual Jewel ($7.60 as the 5-2 second choice) and Last Sting ($5.00 as the 3-2 favorite).
Spurred by a carryover of $49,138, punters bet $130,292 into the Pick Six Friday.
Jockey Juan Hernandez won half of the races in the Pick Six. Hernandez recorded a riding triple with victories aboard Life Is a Rock, High Caliber, and Last Sting.
Racing continues Saturday and Sunday at Golden Gate Fields. Post time is 12:45 p.m.
