The 6-year-old gelding Malibu Rum notched his 11th career victory Saturday at Golden Gate Fields when he bested four rivals in the $33,046 sprint feature.
Malibu Rum, ridden by Dennis Carr, pressed pacesetter Schilling from the start before commandeering the lead a furlong from the finish. Malibu Rum held off Zehner’s Zenna to the wire to win the six-furlong allowance race by 1 1/4 lengths in 1:10.75.

Malibu Rum was the 2-1 second in Golden Gate Fields’ main event and paid $6.00. Owned in partnership by Janet Hollendorfer (wife and top assistant to Jerry) and George Todaro, Malibu Rum earned $18,600.
Malibu Rum is a consistent Kentucky-bred who has amassed 11 victories, three seconds and three thirds in 24 lifetime starts.
Jockey Russell Baze won three of the first four races Saturday. Baze took the opener with Prince of Marbella ($8.80), the second race with Lil Angelina ($3.80), and the fourth with McBoomer ($7.60).
Racing continues at Golden Gate Fields Sunday with a Dollar Day nine-race program that begins at 1:15 p.m. General parking, general admission, programs, beers, hot dogs and sodas are all just $1 each.
