Lucky Moment Scores Third Straight Win

Lucky Moment earned her third straight victory Sunday at Golden Gate Fields when she ran down heavy favorite My Lil Shamrock in the $34,742 allowance feature for 3-year-old fillies.

Lucky Moment, trained by Lloyd Mason and ridden by Inoel Beato, collared My Lil Shamrock in deep stretch of the one-mile race and scored by one length in 1:39.11.  Jerry’shoneycarol finished third.

Lucky Moment was the third wagering choice in a field of five and paid $10.60.  Lucky Moment’s win Sunday was preceded by a neck victory in a one-mile starter allowance race on the turf on Nov. 24 and an easy triumph in a six-furlong maiden race on Tapeta on Nov. 1.

Lucky Moment, a California-bred daughter of Marino Marini, is owned in partnership by Mason and Jim Canaday.  Lucky Moment is a likely candidate to compete in the $50,000-added California Oaks, a 1 1/16-mile race for 3-year-old fillies that will be run Feb. 9 at Golden Gate Fields.

Jockey Dennis Carr rode four winners Sunday.  Carr took the opener with Elaina’s Papou ($5.60), the third race with The Only Key ($7.80), the fifth with Katie’s Song ($15.40), and the eighth with Showme Yourfriends ($8.20).

Racing will resume at Golden Gate Fields Thursday and continue through Monday, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.  Post time will be 12:45 p.m. each day.
