Loveintheshadows Leads Wire To Wire
Loveintheshadows, relaxing beautifully under jockey Frank Alvarado, posted a wire-to-wire victory in the $37,725 turf feature at Golden Gate Fields Saturday.
Trained by Bill McLean, Loveintheshadows stole the 1 1/16-mile race for fillies and mares when she got away with a half-mile in 50.20 and six furlongs in 1:14.96 on the front end.
Thanks to the soft fractions, Loveintheshadows had plenty of energy left for the stretch run and she held off McBoomer through the lane to win by a neck. Tiz Partners finished third.
Loveintheshadows went off at odds of 8-1 and paid $19.00 after stopping the timer in 1:46.28. The victory was the eighth in 34 career starts for the 5-year-old mare and the $23,400 payday boosted her earnings to $116,500.
Loveintheshadows is owned in partnership by Chris Carpenter and Donald Nunes.
Racing continues at Golden Gate Fields Sunday. Post time is 12:45 p.m. and the track is offering $1 general parking, $1 general admission, $1 programs, $1 beers, $1 hot dogs, and $1 sodas.
