Longshot Maggie Moo Proves Uncatchable

Maddie Moo, the largest price on the tote board at odds of 14-1, led her five rivals from start to finish in the $36,585 sprint feature at Golden Gate Fields Friday afternoon.

Trained by Clifford DeLima and ridden by Ricardo Gonzalez, Maddie Moo held off 6-5 favorite Rever de Vous and jockey Russell Baze to win the 5 1/2-furlong allowance dash for

3-year-old fillies by three-quarters of a length.  Dizzy Tizzy, ridden by Abel Cedillo, finished third.

Maddie Moo was timed in 1:04.82 and returned $31.20 after earning her fourth victory in six career starts.  Maddie Moo was coming off a third-place finish on the turf at Santa Rosa, where she led to midstretch before weakening in the late stage.

Returning a big win dividend is not new for Maddie Moo, who paid $147.40 when she broke her maiden last November at Golden Gate Fields in an $8,000 maiden-claiming sprint.

Maddie Moo, a California-bred daughter of the sire Idiot Proof, is owned by DeLima’s wife, Barbara.  The victory Friday was worth $23,400 and boosted Maddie Moo’s earnings to $55,377.

Summer racing at Golden Gate Fields continues Saturday and Sunday.  Post time both days is 1:45 p.m.
