Lady Fifty Two Scores Game Win Under Baze
Lady Fifty Two, the 3-5 favorite ridden by Russell Baze, charged down the middle of the track and got up just in time to win the six-furlong allowance feature for 3-year-old fillies by three-quarters of a length Saturday at Golden Gate Fields.
Improving to 2-for-2 since returning from a seven-month layoff, Lady Fifty Two surged by front-runners Frisco Fog and Miss Loujean in the final yards and stopped the timer in a good 1:10.31. Frisco Fog edged Miss Loujean by a head for second.
Lady Fifty Two, a half sister to multiple graded stakes-winner Lady of Fifty, was coming off an impressive 5 1/2-length victory in a six-furlong maiden allowance race on March 8. Based on that performance, Lady Fifty Two was hammered in the betting Saturday and paid $3.40.
Purchased as a yearling for $55,000, Lady Fifty Two has raced five times and earned $38,942. The Kentucky-bred filly is trained by Hall of Famer Jerry Hollendorfer and owned in partnership by Hollendorfer, Mark DeDomenico and George Todaro.
Racing continues at Golden Gate Fields Sunday. Post time is 12:45 p.m. and the track is offering $1 general parking, $1 general admission, $1 programs, $1 hot dogs, $1 beers, and $1 sodas.
