Jockey Hernandez Starts Fast At GGF

Jockey Juan Hernandez struck early and often Thursday at Golden Gate Fields.

Hernandez won three of the first five races.  He captured the first race with Miner Pic ($8.80), the fourth with Chief Little Man ($5.00) and the fifth with Saxman ($5.80).
Hernandez teamed up with trainer Ed Moger, Jr. for the victories with Miner Pic and Saxman.

Trainer John F. Martin joined Moger in recording a training double.  Martin partnered with Hernandez for the win with Chief Little Man in the fourth race and then took the eighth race with Our Man Luke ($13.40), who was ridden by Julien Couton.

The main event Thursday was the seventh race, a six-furlong allowance dash for
3-year-old fillies.  Justenufappeal, the 1-to-2 favorite ridden by Russell Baze and trained by Steve Specht, won the feature by 1 1/4 lengths over Emily Pearl in 1:10.67.

Justenufappeal, a Florida-bred daughter of Exchange Rate, paid $3.00 after earning her second victory in four starts.

Racing continues at Golden Gate Fields Friday.  Post time is 12:45 p.m.
