Jockey Cedillo Records Riding Hat Trick At GGF

Jockey Abel Cedillo closed out the racing week at Golden Gate Fields by riding three winners Sunday.

Cedillo won back-to-back races in the middle of the card, taking the fifth race with Looking Out ($5.20) and the sixth with Unveiled Heat ($3.80).  Cedillo completed his riding hat trick when he won the featured eighth race with Sweetly Peppered ($5.80).

Cedillo put up a heady ride on Sweetly Peppered, taking the filly just off the pace early and then rallying her to the lead at the top of the stretch.  Sweetly Peppered held off of a very game Elegant to win the one-mile turf race for fillies and mares by a half-length in 1:37.60.

Sweetly Peppered, a 4-year-old filly by Peppered Cat, likes to compete on the Golden Gate Fields turf course.  In nine starts on the local lawn, Sweetly Peppered has recorded four wins and four seconds.
Sweetly Peppered is trained by her owner, Alex Paszkeicz.  The win Sunday was worth $24,960 and boosted the California-bred’s earnings to $131,578,

Racing will resume at Golden Gate Fields Thursday.  Post time is 12:45 p.m.
