Jockey Cedillo Records Riding Hat Trick At GGF

Abel Cedillo rode three winners Sunday at Golden Gate Fields to gain sole possession of second place in the summer meeting jockey standings.

Cedillo didn’t ride a favorite in recording his hat trick as he captured the second race with Michael the Man ($9.80), the sixth with Peppered Pro ($9.20), and the seventh with Tatertwister ($9.80).

Cedillo, who entered Sunday’s card tied with Russell Baze for the second spot in the rider standings, has 18 victories through 16 days of racing at the summer meeting.  Aaron Gryder, who won the first race with Devil Native ($4.60), tops the standings with 21 victories and Baze is third with 15 wins.

Twin Jockeys Rocked Tote Board Saturday  --  Jockeys Pablo Flores and Pedro Flores, identical twin brothers, blew up the tote board in the sixth race Saturday when Pablo won the race with 60-to-1 shot Dennika and Pedro finished second aboard 20-to-1 shot Cinnamon Glo.

     Dennika paid $122.40, $69.00, and $28.20.  Cinnamon Glo paid $21.40 and $10.60.
The $1 exacta paid $643.90.
Dennika and Cinnamon Glo were followed across the wire by 6-to-1 Flying With Sully and 5-to-1 Fancey Endevor.  The $1 trifecta paid $3,952.  Nobody had a winning $1 ticket on the Superfecta but there were two 10-cent winning tickets and each was worth $14,196.60.
Dennika led from start to finish in the six-furlong race for fillies and mares and was never threatened while winning the $4,000 claiming event by 3 1/2 lengths.  Dennika had finished last at odds of 67-to-1 in her previous race after dueling for the early lead.
Dennika is trained by Ronda Davis, who earned her first win at the meeting from five starters. The victory was also the first of the summer season for Pablo Flores, who went into the race 0-for-10.
