Jockey Cedillo Records Another Sunday Hat Trick At GGF

Jockey Abel Cedillo won three races at Golden Gate Fields Sunday, the second straight Sunday he has posted a riding triple.

Cedillo recorded a “natural” hat trick Sunday as he won the first three races on the program.  Cedillo took the opener with Peppered Catnip ($3.00), the second race with Sizzling Gold ($5.00), and the third with Paprika Red ($7.40).

Cedillo has ridden 22 winners at the fall meeting and ranks fifth in the jockey standings.

Jockeys Kevin Krigger and Frank Alvarado both had riding doubles Sunday.  Krigger won the fifth race with Kelly’s Golden Won ($4.20) and the eighth with Hard Sun ($7.00).  Alvarado scored in back-to-back races, taking the sixth with Powers Lilsis ($6.20) and the seventh with Reconstruction ($5.60).

Krigger, who announced that he is moving his tack to Santa Anita for that track’s 2011-2012 meeting that begins Dec. 26, is second in the jockey standings with 40 victories.  Alvarado is fourth with 25 wins.

Trainers Alex Paszkeicz and Jerry Hollendorfer both won a pair of races.  Paszkeicz teamed with Cedillo for the victories with Peppered Catnip and Paprika Red.  Hollendorfer, who combined with Alvarado for the win with Reconstruction, hooked up with jockey Juan Hernandez to win the ninth race with General Causeway ($9.00).

Hollendorfer tops the trainer standings with 36 victories.

Racing will resume at Golden Gate Fields Thursday when the track kicks off the final week of the fall meeting, which concludes Dec. 18.  Post time is 12:45 p.m.
