Jockey Baze, Trainer Morey Enjoy Three-Win Afternoons
Jockey Russell Baze and trainer William E. Morey each enjoyed a three-victory afternoon at Golden Gate Fields Sunday.
Baze, who also had riding hat tricks on Friday and Saturday, won Sunday’s first race with Yvett’s Pride ($4.40) and then teamed up with Morey for victories with Jaylo Marino ($4.00) in the third race and Irish-bred Cash Queen Anna ($2.60) in the fifth.
Morey completed his training triple when he won the sixth race with Yankee Romance ($3.00).
Jockeys David Lopez and Inoel Beato both had riding doubles. Lopez took the second race with Endless Sweep ($4.20) and the seventh with Dugan Bill ($24.40). Beato captured the fourth race with Irish-bred Sheekey ($3.60) and the eighth with Point of Reference ($7.40).
Trainer Frank Lucarelli saddled back-to-back winners, taking the seventh race with Dugan Bill and the eighth with Point of Reference.
Live racing will resume at Golden Gate Fields Thursday. Post time is 12:45 p.m.
Golden Gate Fields will be open for simulcast wagering Wednesday. Club House and Top of the Stretch gates open at 10 a.m. and the simulcast lineup includes full-card action from Santa Anita, where post time is 1 p.m.
