Jim’s No Preacher Stays Perfect; Miyadi Saddles Three Winners
Jim’s No Preacher delivered another winning sermon at Golden Gate Fields Saturday.
A 3-year-old colt by Ministers Wild Cat, Jim’s No Preacher improved his record to
3-for-3 when he posted an impressive front-running victory in the $41,032 allowance feature.
Jim’s No Preacher, trained by Steve Sherman and ridden by Hector Romero, won the six-furlong sprint for 3-year-olds by 2 1/2 lengths over Sworn to Secrecy in 1:10.50. Meshuguna finished third.
Jim’s No Preacher had plenty of followers at the betting windows and paid $3.00 as the 1-to-2 favorite in a field of six. Owned in partnership by Jim Robinson and Robert D. Bone, Jim’s No Preacher earned $26,520.
Trainer Steve Miyadi saddled three winners Saturday. Miyadi won the second race with Deal Breaker ($5.80), the fifth with Costin’s Quest ($18.80), and the ninth with Indian Charlize ($30.60).
Miyadi sent out the first two finishers in the ninth as Indian Charlize defeated stablemate Crazy Kimber by a half-length. The $1 Miyadi exacta paid $53.60.
Racing continues at Golden Gate Fields Sunday. Post time is 12:45 p.m. and the track is offering $1 general parking, $1 general admission, $1 hot dogs, $1 beers, and $1 sodas.
GGF NOTES: Bay Area-based horsemen had no luck in the Sunshine Millions races at Santa Anita Saturday. Trainer Jeff Bonde’s Excessive Passion (ridden by Russell Baze) finished seventh in the $200,000 Sprint. Trainer Steve Specht sent out Lady Railrider (Baze) and Antares World (Frank Alvarado) in the $300,000 Distaff and saw them finish fourth and eighth, respectively. Ultra Blend, trained by Art Sherman, finished third in the Distaff….Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer had success in Oregon Saturday as his 3-year-old filly Alec’s Moon ran away to a 6 1/2-length victory in the $82,700 Portland Meadows Oaks.
