Hot Hernandez Records Riding Triple
Jockey Juan Hernandez boosted his winning percentage at the 2012-2013 winter/spring meeting to 23.2 when he scored with three of his seven mounts Friday at Golden Gate Fields.
Hernandez took the first race with South Forty ($7.00), the fifth with Bottle Blonde ($13.80), and the sixth with Clever Cayenne ($4.20). Hernandez deserves extra credit for his win with South Forty as the 4-year-old gelding had failed to break his maiden in 26 previous attempts.
Hernandez has won with 17 of 73 mounts since returning to Golden Gate Fields in early February after spending several months in Southern California. Despite missing the early portion of the season, Hernandez is tied for sixth in the jockey standings.
Racing continues at Golden Gate Fields Saturday and Sunday. Post time both days is 12:45 p.m.
Golden Gate Field will host a “Year of the Snake Celebration” Sunday with special lion dance performances and a free bet for fans. Sunday is Dollar Day and fans paying the $1 general admission can’t lose as they will receive a cash voucher worth at least $2 and as much as $500.
