Hollendorfer Remains At 5,998 After Going 0-for-6 Friday

Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer’s pursuit of his 6,000th career victory will continue Saturday when he and his assistants send out runners at both Golden Gate Fields and Del Mar.

Hollendorfer won four races last Sunday to push his victory total to 5,998 but is
0-for-7 with his starters this week.   He missed with his lone entrant at Del Mar Thursday and went 0-for-5 at Golden Gate Fields and 0-for-1 at Del Mar Friday.

The Hollendorfer stable will be very busy Saturday, with six horses scheduled to run at Golden Gate Fields and four set to start at Del Mar.  At Golden Gate Fields, Hollendorfer will start Royal Mango (5-to-2 on the morning line) in the first race, Milania (2-to-1) and Oh Frankie Oh (5-to-2) in the seventh, Zefina (7-to-5) and Bluegrass Story (5-to-2) in the eighth, and Final Stand (8-to-5) in the ninth.

Hollendorfer’s scheduled starters at Del Mar are Light Up the Sky (6-to-1) in the sixth race, Kate’s Event (12-to-1) and Chosen Miracle (8-to-1) in the seventh, and Our Nautique (8-to-1) in the featured eighth race, the Grade 2 $200,000 Del Mar Mile.
Only three trainers in thoroughbred racing history have reached the 6,000-win
mark – the late Dale Baird (9,445 career victories) and active trainers Jack Van Berg (6,406) and King T. Leatherbury (6,324).

Post time at Golden Gate Fields Saturday is 12:45 p.m. and first post at Del Mar is
 2 p.m.
