Hernandez Makes It Back-To-Back Riding Triples

Jockey Juan Hernandez, a winner of three races last Sunday, picked up where he left off by riding three more winners Thursday at Golden Gate Fields.

Hernandez took the first race aboard Capo ($9.00), the third race with Charlie Company ($5.40), and the fifth with Jerry’s Fever ($5.80).  Charlie Company was the lone favorite among the Hernandez winners.

The riding triple moved Hernandez into a tie with Dennis Carr for second place in the jockey standings with three days remaining at the fall meeting.  Both riders have 34 victories.  Russell Baze tops the standings with 52 wins.

Trainer A. L. Diaz, continuing his outstanding campaign at the fall session, scored with his only starter Thursday when Elmonte Cristo ($9.80) won the seventh race.  Diaz has recorded eight victories and two seconds from 13 starters at the meeting.

The final weekend of the fall season will feature an eight-race card Friday (post time is 12:45 p.m.), a 10-race program Saturday (12:15 p.m.), and a nine-race finale Sunday (12:45 p.m.).
