Hallelujah Trail Rewards Believers At Golden Gate Fields
Hallelujah Trail rewarded her many believers at Golden Gate Fields Wednesday when she won the featured seventh race as the 7-to-5 favorite.
Hallelujah Trail, ridden by Chad Schvaneveldt, came from just off the pace to capture the six-furlong allowance/optional claiming race by one length over Yodelady O in 1:10.54. Waynetta finished third, beaten a half-length by Yodelady O.
Hallelujah Trail had made her previous five starts in stakes events but was entered for a $50,000 claiming tag Wednesday. Handicappers figured the 4-year-old filly would be tough on the class drop and they were rewarded with a win payoff of $4.80.
Hallelujah Trail, a Kentucky-bred daughter of Gilded Time, earned $19,200 for her fifth victory in 14 career starts. Trained by Blaine Wright and owned by John and Janene Maryanski, Hallelujah Trails has finished in the money in 10 of her races.
Schvaneveldt rode a pair of winners Wednesday as he also took the fifth race with Wavy Lass ($9.20).
Jockey Russell Baze had a riding triple. Baze won the first race with Casual Obsession ($3.00), the second with Soft Lite ($6.60) and the eighth with To The Batcave ($4.40).
Racing continues at Golden Gate Fields Thursday. Post time is 12:45 p.m.
