Golden Gate Fields Will Simulcast Entire Kentucky Oaks Card Friday
Golden Gate Fields will simulcast the entire 12-race Kentucky Oaks Day card from Churchill Downs Friday and also present an eight-race card of its own.
Grandstand and club house gates at Golden Gate Fields open at 7:15 a.m. and post time for the first race at Churchill Downs is 7:30 a.m. The Grade 1 $1 million Kentucky Oaks, the filly equivalent of the Kentucky Derby, is the 11th race on the card and will be run at approximately 2:45 p.m.
Post time for the first Golden Gate Fields race is 12:45 p.m.
The Kentucky Oaks card features six stakes – the Grade 2 $300,000 La Troienne (race six, post time is 10:26 a.m.), the $100,000 Edgewood Stakes (race seven, 11:10 a.m.), the Grade 3 $100,000 Eight Belles Stakes (race eight, 12:04 p.m.), the Grade 3 $300,000 Alysheba Stakes (race nine, 12:54 p.m.), the Grade 2 $200,000 American Turf (race 10, 1:47 p.m.), and the Grade 1 $1 million Kentucky Oaks (race 11, 2:45 p.m.).
Northern California trainer Jerry Hollendorfer will participate in Oaks Day as he’ll start Blind Luck in the La Troienne and Jakesam in the American Turf.
Blind Luck won the 2010 Kentucky Oaks on her way to earning honors as the nation’s champion 3-year-old filly. Blind Luck has finished second in all three of her starts this year and is the 9-5 morning line favorite in the La Troienne, a 1 1/16-mile race for fillies and mares.
Jakesam finished second in both the California Derby and El Camino Real Derby at Golden Gate Fields and is coming off a third-place finish in the La Puente Stakes at Santa Anita. Jakesam is listed at 8-1 on the morning line in the American Turf, a 1 1/16-mile event for 3-year-olds.
