Golden Gate Fields Will Present Thanksgiving Day Card Thursday, Grade 3 $100,000 All American Stakes Friday

Golden Gate Fields will open all gates at 9:30 a.m. Thursday for its special Thanksgiving Day program.  Post time for the eight-race card is 11:15 a.m.

The early post time will allow the track to complete the holiday program by approximately 2:45 p.m., giving fans plenty of time to get home for the Thanksgiving Day feast.

Handicappers will have a chance to fatten up their wallets in a big way as there is a pick six carryover of $560,134 at Hollywood Park Thursday.  Fans at Golden Gate Fields can play the Hollywood Park pick six via simulcast.  First post at Hollywood Park is
11 a.m.  The pick six will be held on races four through nine and post time for the fourth race is 12:30 p.m.

Friday at Golden Gate Fields, the most important race of the fall meeting, the Grade 3 $100,000 All American Stakes, will be contested at 1 1/16-miles on the synthetic Tapeta racing surface.  First post Friday is 12:45 p.m.  Post time for the All American, the seventh race on a nine-race card, is 3:45 p.m.

The 5-year-old gelding Gladding, a Grade 2 stakes-winner trained by John Sadler, heads a strong field of seven in the All American.  Winner of the Grade 2 San Antonio Stakes at Santa Anita in 2011, Gladding has been idle since rambling to a
6 1/2-length victory in the 2012 Alamedan Handicap at Pleasanton on July 1.

Sadler reported the break in Gladding’s racing schedule was caused by an illness in August.  Gladding has recovered from the setback and has recorded a series of strong workouts at Santa Anita for his comeback start, including a pair of bullet six-furlong moves.

Gladding is one of four multiple stakes-winners in the All American lineup.  The others are Positive Response (2010 Gold Rush Stakes-Golden Gate Fields, 2011 California Derby-GGF, and 2011 John Battaglia Stakes-Turfway Park),  Hudson Landing (2010 Alcatraz Stakes-GGF, 2012 San Francisco Mile-GGF, and 2012 Mt. Rainier-Emerald Downs), and Control Seeker (2012 Joseph T. Grace Handicap-Santa Rosa and 2012 Bull Dog Handicap-Big Fresno Fair).

The All American field is rounded out by stakes-placed runners Duke of Doom (second in the 2011 Alcatraz-GGF), Fast Track (third in the 2012 Cotton Fitzsimmons Handicap-Turf Paradise), and Slim Pickins (third in the Budweiser Handicap-Emerald Downs).

The All American lineup, in post position order with riders and morning-line odds, is as follows: Gladding, Juan Hernandez rides, 7-5; Duke of Doom, Russell Baze, 6-1; Positive Response, Dennis Carr, 3-1; Fast Track, Eric Camacho, 20-1; Hudson Landing, Frank Alvarado, 4-1; Slim Pickins, Julien Couton, 15-1; and Control Seeker, Francisco Duran, 6-1.  All of the starters will carry 123 pounds.
