Golden Gate Fields Will Offer Players’ Pick Five During Winter/Spring Meeting

The Players’ Pick Five, one of the most popular horse racing bets to hit California, will be offered at Golden Gate Fields during the track’s 2011-2012 winter/spring meeting, which opens Dec. 26 and continues through June 17.

The Players’ Pick Five is a 50-cent bet that requires handicappers to select five winners in five consecutive races.  Horseplayers like the exotic wager due to its low takeout rate of 14 percent and the 50-cent minimum, which allows fans to use many horses in each race for a modest investment.

The Players’ Pick Five will be held on the final five races each day.  On days when no one is able to pick all five winners, the entire pool will be carried over to the next racing day.

The Players’ Pick Five is the latest addition to an extensive wagering menu at Golden Gate Fields that also includes a $2 Pick Six (held on the final six races each day), a pair of 50-cent Pick Fours (held on the first four races and last four races each day), rolling $2 Daily Doubles, rolling $1 Pick Threes, a $1 Super High Five (held on the fifth race), $2 quinellas on every race, a $1 Place Pick All, and $1 exactas, $1 trifectas, and 10-cent  superfectas on every race.
