Giant Ego 9-5 Favorite In Sprint Feature

Giant Ego, who scored a game victory as the favorite in his last race, is the 9-5 morning line choice in Thursday’s $28,000 sprint feature at Golden Gate Fields.

Giant Ego was bet down to 3-2 odds in a $40,000 claiming race at six-furlongs on March 8 and the 4-year-old gelding dug in tenaciously down the stretch to defeat Wildcat Moon by a half-length.

Giant Ego will face Wildcat Moon again Thursday as well as Tiz Point, Scorpion Warrior, and Soldiers Point.  Trained by Steve Specht, Giant Ego will break from post four under jockey Frank Alvarado.

Owned and bred by Art and Betty Suitter, Giant Ego is an Idaho-bred son of Cause Ur Mine.  A very consistent performer, Giant Ego has finished in the money in all but one of his races, collecting four wins, three seconds and two thirds in 10 starts.

The 2-1 second choice on the morning line is Scorpion Warrior, a 5-year-old horse who is 2-for-3 at Golden Gate Fields.  Wildcat Moon, who has finished in the money in all five of his races at six furlongs, is the third choice at 5-2.

In post position order, the field for Thursday’s main event is as follows: Wildcat Moon, Russell Baze rides, 5-2; Tiz Point, Dennis Carr, 10-1; Scorpion Warrior, William Antongeorgi III, 2-1; Giant Ego, Alvarado, 9-5; and Soldiers Point, Pedro Terrero, 6-1.
