Gates Open At 9 A.M. For Preakness Card Simulcast
All gates at Golden Gate Fields open at 9 a.m. Saturday to facilitate the simulcast of the Preakness Stakes Day program from Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore.
Golden Gate Fields will join the Pimlico card in progress and simulcast races four (post time is 9:30 a.m.) through 13 from the Maryland track. Post time for the Preakness Stakes, race 12 on the program, is 3:20 p.m.
Golden Gate Fields will present nine races Saturday and post time for the first event is 11:45 a.m. The simulcast of the Preakness Stakes will take place between the seventh and eighth races on the local card.
Kentucky Derby winner Orb will face eight rivals in the 1 3/16-mile Preakness, the second leg of thoroughbred racing’s Triple Crown. Orb is the even-money favorite on the morning line and will break from post position one under jockey Joel Rosario.
The Preakness field, in post position order, is as follows: Orb, Rosario rides, even money; Goldencents, Kevin Krigger, 8-1; Titletown Five, Julien Leparoux, 30-1; Departing, Brian Hernandez, Jr., 6-1; Mylute, Rosie Napravnik, 5-1; Oxbow, Gary Stevens, 15-1; Will Take Charge, Mike Smith, 12-1; Governor Charlie, Martin Garcia, 12-1; and Itsmyluckyday, John Velazquez, 10-1. All of the starters will carry 126 pounds.
The first bet will be on the house Saturday at Golden Gate Fields as fans will receive a cash voucher worth at least $2 upon entering the facility.
