Friday Feature Is Prep For Gold Rush Stakes

Possible candidates for the $75,000 Gold Rush Stakes will be in action Friday at Golden Gate Fields in the seventh race, a one-mile allowance test for 2-year-olds.

The Gold Rush will be run Saturday, Dec. 8, and the top finishers in Friday’s main event will likely be pointed to the one-mile stakes.   First post Friday is 12:45 p.m., and post time for the seventh race is 3:52 p.m.

Condiment and My Best Bet, the second- and third-place finishers in the one-mile Charlie Palmer Futurity at the Big Fresno Fair on Oct. 6, head a field of seven in Friday’s feature.  Condiment has one win and two seconds in four career starts and is the 2-1 favorite on the morning line.  My Best Bet has two victories and two thirds in four outings and is the second choice at 5-2.

The lineup also includes Londinium, a Peter Miller-trained colt who broke his maiden at Santa Anita on Oct. 11, and Eldorado Prado, who overcame a slow start to win a one-mile maiden allowance race at Golden Gate Fields on Oct. 21.

Friday’s eight-race program features a Pick Six carryover of $16,718.  The Pick Six will be held on races three through eight, and post time for the third race is 1:47 p.m.
