El Gran Matador Completes Multi-Track Hat Trick In Front Of 11,291

El Gran Matador completed a multi-track hat trick Sunday when he scored a decisive victory in the third race at Golden Gate Fields in front of an enthusiastic Fiesta Hispana Day crowd of 11,291.

El Gran Matador began his winning streak with a 4 1/2-length victory in a one-mile and 70-yard race at Pleasanton on July 7 while racing for a claiming price of $4,000.  The 6-year-old gelding then captured a 1 1/16-mile race at Sacramento by three-quarters of a length while wearing a claiming tag of $5,000 on July 19.

El Gran Matador completed his triple Sunday despite rising in class to the $8,000 claiming level.  Ridden by Pedro Terrero, El Gran Matador came from just off the pace to win the one-mile race by 2 1/4 lengths in 1:39.42.

El Gran Matador went off at a generous 4-1 in the wagering and paid $10.20. El Gran Matador is trained by Victor Trujillo and owned by Landeros Racing LLC.

Summer racing will resume at Golden Gate Fields Thursday.  Post time is 1:15 p.m.
