Dubai World Cup Betting Friday At GGF; Weekend Features Simulcast Of Derby Preps

     Golden Gate Fields will offer wagering on the $26 million Dubai World Cup program and also simulcast a trio of Kentucky Derby prep races this weekend.

     Live racing resumes at Golden Gate Fields Thursday with an eight-race card that begins at 12:45 p.m.

     Advance wagering on Saturday night’s Dubai World Cup program will be available Friday at Golden Gate Fields.  The World Cup races are run at Meydan Racecourse in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and the lineup of stakes is as follows: $1 million Al Quoz Sprint, $1 million Godolphin Mile, $2 million UAE Derby, $2 million Dubai Golden Shaheen, $5 million Dubai Duty Free, $5 million Dubai Sheema Classic, and the $10 million Dubai World Cup.
 
     Two Kentucky Derby preps – the Grade 3 $500,000 Vinery Racing Spiral Stakes at Turfway Park and the Grade 2 $1 million Louisiana Derby at Fair Grounds – will be simulcast to Golden Gate Fields Saturday.   Northern California’s Positive Response, trained by Willliam E. Morey, is one of the favorites in the 1 1/8-mile Spiral Stakes.

     The $800,000 Sunland Derby will be contested Sunday at Sunland Park in New Mexico and the 1 1/8-mile race will be simulcast to Golden Gate Fields.  Northern California trainer Jeff Bonde will send out Twice the Appeal in the Grade 3 feature.
