Curvy Cat Runs Down Luscious Lonna

Curvy Cat ran down the speedy Luscious Lonna in the final sixteenth of a mile to win the $43,400 Somethinaboutlaura allowance feature Sunday at Golden Gate Fields.

Curvy Cat took the one-mile test for fillies and mares by 1 1/4 lengths in 1:38.46.  Luscious Lonna was clearly second best as she finished 2 1/4 lengths in front of Magic Union, the 9-5 favorite.

Curvy Cat, trained by Jerry Hollendorfer and ridden by Kevin Krigger, was the third choice in the wagering and paid $9.60.

Curvy Cat is a stakes-winning mare who races for her breeder, Tommy Town Thoroughbreds.  A 5-year-old daughter of Ministers Wild Cat, Curvy Cat has eight victories in 24 career starts and 17 in-the-money finishes.

Curvy Cat earned $27,300 for Sunday’s victory and the payday boosted her bankroll to $325,455.

Racing will resume at Golden Gate Fields Thursday.  Post time is 12:45 p.m. and the seven-race program will kick off a five-day racing week as the track will present a special holiday card on Monday, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
