Coach Bob Runs Up The Score
Coach Bob took command at the start and then lengthened his advantage through the stretch in a dominating performance in the $38,254 sprint feature at Golden Gate Fields Sunday.
Coach Bob, under jockey Dennis Carr, won the six-furlong allowance race for
3-year-olds and up by 5 1/2 lengths in a very good time of 1:09.23 on the synthetic Tapeta racing surface. Soldiers Point finished second and Morning Fog was third.
Coach Bob was the 7-5 favorite in a field of five and paid $4.80 after recording his fourth career victory. The win was worth $24,180 and boosted Coach Bob’s earnings to $146,969.
Reina Gonzalez trains Coach Bob and owns the 4-year-old colt in partnership with Tom Gerstel and Keith and Jean Hembree.
Carr celebrated Easter Sunday with a riding double as he also won the ninth race with Thrillagee (4.20).
Racing will resume at Golden Gate Fields Thursday. Post time is 12:45 p.m.
