Ciao Bella Luna Even Money Favorite In Golden Gate Debutante

Ciao Bella Luna Even Money Favorite In Golden Gate Debutante

Golden Gate Fields odds maker Steve Martinelli has made Ciao Bella Luna a strong even money favorite in the $50,000-added Golden Gate Debutante Stakes at Golden Gate Fields.

The Debutante, a six-furlong dash for 2-year-old fillies, headlines a nine-race Saturday program.  First post is 12:45 p.m. and post time for the Debutante is 1:47 p.m.

Ciao Bella Luna is perfect in two starts for trainer Dennis Patterson and the ownership group of Car-Den Racing Stable (Carol and Dennis Yokum) and Theresa Patterson, the wife of the trainer.  Ciao Bella Luna rallied from off the pace in both six-furlong races and won in handy fashion under jockey Eric Camacho.

Hall of Fame rider Russell Baze has been assigned to ride Ciao Bella Luna in the Debutante and he’ll break the filly from post position one.

Martinelli tabbed Marks Mine as the 5-2 second choice.  Trained by Steve Specht, Marks Mine finished third in the Wine Country Debutante Stakes at Santa Rosa and most recently finished second, beaten two lengths by Ciao Bella Luna, in a six-furlong allowance race.

The Debutante field, in post position order with riders and morning-line odds, is as follows: Cia Bella Luna, Baze, even money; Lovely Daughter, Inoel Beato, 8-1; Power of Ten, Julien Couton, 15-1; My Lil Shamrock, Frank Alvarado, 4-1; Marks Mine, Abel Cedillo, 5-2; and French Alps, Dennis Carr, 10-1.  All of the starters will carry 120 pounds.
